So what Q&A topics will Miss Universe 2019 likely delve upon?

Miss Universe has always had the penchant for asking tough questions regarding current events and global concerns that can throw off any unguarded candidate if asked on the spot. So I did a bit of my own research on the possible topics that can be asked outside of the usual Mental Health, #metoo, climate change and poverty.

Here are three possibilities that I reckon might be touched upon:

1) Greta Thunberg – a Swedish teenage environmental activist on climate change whose campaigning has gained international recognition. Thunberg is known for her blunt, straightforward speaking manner, both in public and to political leaders and assemblies, in which she urges immediate action to address what she describes as the climate crisis. (Source: Wikipedia)

2) Social Media Regulation/Privacy Violation – self explanatory

and

3) Women’s Health Issues – it could be about reproductive health, gynecological health, pregnancy, health technology for women and other allied concerns.

I’m pretty sure the ladies have done their homework (including Gazini Ganados) so it will all be in the delivery of an impactful answer to get the nod of the judges.

Fields of lies by Sabina Gabrielli Carrara – Not just a web of lies, but many fields! Do you know how many webs are in a single field? Think of the lies you’re about to read! A page turner guaranteed.
The combination of murder-mystery and romance kept me wanting to read more about Shane and Bernadette, and all the secrets they keep to themselves just to get by. Will they end up together? Who killed Michael? A tale of an unraveling marriage, a past love, secrets, lies, and dreadful consequences. It is hard to believe that Fields of lies is the author’s first novel. I like this book and I cannot lie… #bestseller #tobecome #Fingerscrossed
From her blog Truly Madly Ordinary to her Instagram, Sabina Gabrielli Carrara has charmed thousands of people around the world with her writing skills, humor and energetic personality -me included.

I spoke with the Ireland-based Italian author about writing, fashion and style. Here are her honest answers to my questions.

I fell in love with books after…

I read The Canterville Ghost and Little Women, but coming from two parents as voracious readers, books have always been part of the family life.

The writing bug hit when…

I was 7, my parents had just split up and my mum was in bed sick. It was around Christmas and I wrote my first short novel “ Waiting For Christmas ”. I typed it with an old typing machine and made the cover with stickers. My mum still has it and keeps it as the most precious of the memories.

The best thing about being a writer is….

Apart the fact I am not sure I would call myself a writer, the best thing of being one is surely being able to unleash your imagination, live through your characters and work at your own pace.

When I am not writing, I like to…

Read, obviously, go to movie and do my yoga that keeps me sane for so many years. I also like to play cards in my spare time with my daughters.

Lying is something that I find…

Difficult as it then I have to remember what I lied about and my tongue is often far faster than my brain. I know there are the so called “ white lies ”, but still in the end I prefer the ugly truth —it’s simpler.

I have rituals before starting to work such as…

Make a cup of tea or coffee to bring to my desk.

The inspiration behind Fields of lies came from…

Everyday life!

When I write I wear…

I recently discovered that writing in my pjs like many do, it doesn’t really work for me. I need to be fully dressed. I like to be aesthetically in order and it gives some orders to my thoughts too.

Ireland’s pubs are to me…

This is interesting. Being a person with a very sweet tooth I might prefer coffee shops but I love the cozy atmosphere of good old fashion pub where people of every age meet and relax. I still remember our first local pub, just after we moved to Dublin, with its tartan carpet, leather armchairs and soft lights.

My personal favorite designers are…

Tom Ford, Ferragamo, Etro

You’ll never see me wearing…

Crop tops as they won’t go well with my forties belly, and 12” heels —being already nearly 5 foot 8, I would look like a camel struggling to balance.

My favorites accessories are…

Pearl on top of everything and necklaces, shoes, bags, earring, bangles…..yes, I love my accessories!

My style icon is…

Isabela Rossellini, then, now and forever.

In Black Souls, my second murder-mystery, detective McCabe is…

He is not. Readers will be introduced to a duo liner detective, Enda McCarthey, and a fiery Italian inspector, Furio Zamparelli.
Bhttps://kristelmaedelvalle.shutterfly.com/lack Souls will be available on the…
We don’t have a precise release date yet but not later then mid/end November.

A valid reason to read and reconsider fashion in journalism — the curly flower

Dear readers, In my previous post, I mentioned that new things are coming to my life. The last year was a bit of a roller coaster, but my passions and my fragile but STRONG heart have been there for me: they got bigger, stronger, and sharper. Writing about fashion isn’t easy. Fashion journalism is sometimes […]

GRAB PH’s EXCESSIVE FEES, CANCELLATIONS Net P16-M FINE from REGULATORS

tag_reuters.com2018_newsml_LYNXNPEE310FE_12018-04-02T080617Z_1_LYNXNPEE310FE_RTROPTP_3_PHILIPPINES-UBER-GRAB-e1524564939841.jpg

It has long been established that when it comes to ride-hailing services in operation here in the Philippines, the top company around is Grab Philippines. The local office of the Singapore-headquartered transport network company has established its place on the top of the ride-hailing heap after absorbing the ill-fated Uber SEA. But with its dominance, particularly in major Philippine cities, there came the opportunity, and eventually instances, of service abuse. Customers of Grab PH have started grumbling about exorbitant fares and the rise of driver cancellations. National regulators have already penalized Grab for these practices, but now another fine looms.

CNN Philippines reports that the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) has announced an imposition of an additional penalty on Grab PH worth P16.15 million for a new period wherein the ride-hailing monolith has shocked its passengers with fare surges that are described as “extraordinary” rates. These excess fares were reported from May 11 to August 10, well after the PCC already fined Grab for gross fare overcharges between February and May. The earlier penalty also included an order for the ride-hailer to refund its customers a total of P5.05 million in compensation for their harsh pricing.

The second fine against Grab by the country’s competition regulators at year’s end will also refund a portion to the company’s past customers during May to August, an amount running up to P14.15 million alone. In addition, the tendency of Grab drivers to cancel fare pickups has netted a further P2 million due to the cancellations comprising an alarming 7.76% of total bookings for Grab in the Philippines, when the acceptable booking cancellation rate should not rise above 5%. The ride-hailing service was accorded 60 more days to facilitate its refunds to customers, which the company affirms to complete by February 10 of next year.

The Philippine Competition Commission notes that these certain actions by Grab Philippines, which tend to maximize driver profits at the discomfort of customers, comes as a result of being the only major transportation networking company in the country of late. When Uber’s Southeast Asian offices were sold off due to stiff competition from local ride-hailers, the acquisition of these resources by Grab has led to it being able to set its fares as high as it could, with no real rival service for the customers to turn to. Grab in turn explains their current fare-setting system to be in response to both limited drivers compared to prospective passengers, and heavy traffic flow in Philippine cities.
